MAY THERE ALWAYS BE SUNSHINE

words & music by Tom Botting, Lev Oshanin, Arkadi Ostrovsky
©1964 G. Schirmer, ASCAP

May there always be sunshine
(pointer finger above head, outline a circle with pointer finger on the syllable “sun”;
on the word “shine”, two hands pretend to touch that circle and then wiggle fingers
as you bring hands down towards the floor)
May there always be blue sky
(both hands above head as if making arch, then wiggle fingers and hands down, right hand towards right side, left hand towards left side)
May there always be mama
(thumb touch right side of chin, fingers all outstretched, palm facing in)
May there always be me.
(point to yourself)
Poost vsegda boodyet solntse
(pointer finger above head, outline circle with pointer finger on the syllable “sun”;
on the word “shine”, two hands pretend to touch that circle and then wiggle fingers as you
bring hands down towards the floor)
Poost vsegda boodyet nyeba
(both hands above head as if making arch, then wiggle fingers and hands down, right hand towards right side,
left hand towards left side)
Poost vsegda boodyet mama
(thumb touch right side of chin, fingers all outstretched, palm facing in)
Poost vsegda boodoo ya.
(point to yourself)
NOTE: Though it is not on the recording, we've changed the third line to: May there always be family. The sign for family is to make each hand an "ok" sign with pointer finger and thumb tips touching, hold tips of each thumb/pointer together at chest, and extend out making a circle in front of you as if going around a beach ball, so that the thumb/pointer tips join again away from the body.)
